Kennelly injury won’t affect Rules participation

July 18, 2008

Sydney Swans star Tadhg Kennelly has told the Irish Echo that he will be available for selection for this year’s International Rules series against Australia in October, despite confirming plans to have surgery on his shoulder at the end of the season.

Kennelly will play his 150th game for the Swans on Sunday against Carlton, and will play out the rest of the season with an injury that requires his shoulder to be “popped back in” every time it dislocates,  as was seen in Sydney’s last game against the Hawks.

He told the Echo that the surgery would not take place until after the close of the International Rules series which finishes on October 31.

More details in the next edition of the Echo.
