Injury scare for Irish Melbourne Cup hope
October 16, 2008
Irish Melbourne Cup hopeful Profound Beauty has suffered a slight hoof injury that has kept her off the training track at Sandown for a second day this week.
The mare, trained by two-time Cup winner Dermot Weld, spread a shoe in her box and has been unable to exercise since being re-plated. Bruising was then discovered in the foot which was treated today (Thursday), again preventing any exercise.
The problem is not said to be serious, however, and she is expected to walk on the Sandown Racecourse training track tomorrow (Friday) ahead of the big race which takes place on November 4.
